I went and visited another childcare facility this morning. These tours are much the same. Firstly, you ring up and the Director insists you come and have a look rather than just lodge an application form. Then you go for the tour and they show you around and tell you how marvellous the place is, how happy the children are and how, despite the regulations stating that they need only provide one staff member for 10 babies they have 1.5 etc etc. Then they tell you that there's no chance of getting a place in the forseeable future but if you'd like to be placed on the waiting list there's a non-refundable administration fee of 25 bucks. And so it goes...
I'm supposed to be returning to work in April. And I'd like to go. I like work. I like having an income. But I'm not sure how I'm going to do it when every childcare place I visit tells me that I'll be waiting several years before Maddles will gain a place anywhere. And my parents are stubbornly refusing to retire.
