It's ride to work day today but my bike is being repaired so I missed out on the free breakfast in Federation Square. Oh well. Next year. It was a beautiful morning to walk, anyway.
Sensei has sent me a couple of links this morning - one to an animation by Adam Phillips and one to his website. The animation is very skillfully done, and although the story lacks a certain something it is very easy to enjoy it simply for the movement and the splashes. Phillips works as a senior special effects animator for Disney and his interest in rendering light and water is evident.
I had a quick look at his personal website but became annoyed by the navigation. Why can't I just click on the items on the map? Why do I have to navigate around the castle? But perhaps I'm just impatient.
I returned from Christchurch early on Saturday morning. We ended up staying an extra night and had to catch the 6am flight, which was something of a struggle.
Back at work today and there is a new edition of Desktop magazine to read. I like the webguide section - always lots of interesting links to follow. This month's topic is animation which lead to a number of lunchtime-wasting sites. This, for instance, amused me - I am trying to resist the temptation to now click through everything in their archives.
I also liked we come in peace - simple graphics and appealing navigation.
I've had a quick look at the little ninjai which has very impressive graphics. I've only looked at the first chapter and it didn't overly grab me, story-wise, but perhaps it improves.
One they didn't cover (perhaps because it's already so well-known and popular) is StrongBad's emails. I don't care if it's well known - it's still my favourite web animation.
