There are a lot of ducks in Christchurch. Almost a worrying amount. Walking around the Botanical Gardens last night I noted the healthy numbers of web-footed locals. Then today, in the city, there seemed to be even more. Ducks in the parks. Ducks by the lake. Ducks in the mal. Ducks going through the remnants bins in Karen Walker. Ducks hanging out by the pinball parlor. I started avoiding the alleyways.
It's rainy and wet. Perhaps this explains all the ducks. Today was a set-up day - The Brownie and I spent some time in the museum looking at Maori weapons and trying to dry out our socks. We also spent a considerable amount of time trying to decode the New Zealand vowel system. So far, we have come up with this: Es are Is Is are Us Us are Os.
Tomorrow we have to be at our stand at 7.45. The Brownie has elected to forgo the buffet breakfast put on by our hotel in favour of sleeping in. I can never pass up a buffet and will therefore be setting the alarm clock for 6am.
