Well, I seem to have managed to get through most of my tasks this week. Now I just have to Christmas shop like a maniac all weekend and work on the Tropfest animation.
The warmer weather seems to have brought an unwelcome number of insects to our flat. On Tuesday night I was woken up by a mosquito whining in my ear. "Look" I said to it, stretching out my arm "Take as much blood as you like, just do it quietly." But the mozzie was intent on irritation, and continued to hover over my ear. I ended up going to the bathroom and covering myself with tropical strength Rid, which seemed to do the trick.
Then last night as I was going to bed I discovered a Vaughan on my bedroom door. I ran in and closed the door, but, in a horror movie-esque scenario, the Huntsman climbed in under the door. So I leapt out again. I'm no spider-killer, but I was equally reluctant to share my bedroom with one overnight, especially one that clearly liked to travel close to the ground. Spiders that hang around on the ceiling, eating mosquitos are one thing, spiders that hang out at futon level are another matter entirely. So I got the broom and encouraged the Vaughan to leave, by tapping on things around it.
The Vaughan headed straight for me, and I retreated hastily and let it run off (and an alarmingly rapid rate) and hide under the sofa. I then leapt back into my room and stuffed the gap under my door with a towel.
I know it is ridiculous to feel this way about a spider, and I am truly quite ashamed. I know it won't hurt me, but the idea of its large, furry legs making their way across my face in the middle of the night fills me with horror.
The worst thing is that this morning, the Vaugan was nowhere to be seen.
