Seyonara June

I know it's bad to wish your life away but I must say I'm very relieved June is over. In May it loomed in a frankly terrifying way on my horizon and while everything went fine, I'm not sorry to see the back of it. June was two worktrips with moving house in between. But it's done - even the move - hideous and expensive as it was. Amazing. I even, somehow, managed to write a first draft of kids' book #2 (I'm trying desperately to get as much stuff done as possible before October when I know everything else will ground to a halt).

And then yesterday I got a cold. Of course. So I lay on the couch and read the 50th anniversary edition of Half Magic which my dad bought for me, remembering how I'd loved it as a kid. It was still pretty bloody good 30 years later. I'm still feeling crap and should probably have stayed in bed again (I hate it when sick people come to work) but I couldn't really bear the thought of another day with the as yet unemptied boxes glaring balefully at me from the corner of every room.

So here I am, ready to spread my germs to my collegues.
